A Word On Benzodiazepines
I suffered from anxiety for years, and these tablets helped me out more than any SSRI or benzodiazepine ever did. I know benzodiazepines are the gold standard for anxiety treatment, and I will never lie and pretend they don’t help anxiety because they really do. But that help comes at a cost. Firstly, “benzos” just mask anxiety–they don’t do anything to naturally calm you down. They are essentially made up of really strong chemicals that stimulate your GABA receptors, which are areas in your brain that release the calming chemical GABA. Secondly, benzodiazepines are extraordinarily addictive to the point that you can become physically dependent on them. A physical dependence is extremely dangerous because abrutly stopping benzodiazepines in that state can cause seizures.
That’s why I much prefer natural anxiety remedies. They’re significantly safer and they leverage the power of naturally occurring herbs for anxiety relief that causes a permanent shift towards calmness instead of masking your anxiety like benzos do. I recommend taking a combination of at least two of these pills for maximum anxiolytic effects. The great thing is that if you don’t like one of these pills or they’re not having desirable effects, you can stop them safely without needing to taper. None of these substances make you become physically dependent. Here are my favorite five natural anxiety remedies:
This supplement works like a charm for calming you down. What I love about it is that it takes some of the best natural anxiety herbs and combines them into one pill. This is not only convenient but it’s also extremely calming.
I performed an experiment whereby I took a Xanax and one Chamomile Comfort pill, while blindfolded on separate occasions. I genuinely couldn’t tell the difference between the two.
Chamomile Comfort contains chamomile, as per the name. This is a flower that has been used for thousands of years to treat anxiety and promote calmness. Furthermore, the addition of Lemon Balm, L-Theanine, and Valerian helps to make this product extremely relaxing.

Whenever I’m really feeling on edge, popping one of these pills helps a lot. And they’re not physically addictive, unlike benzodiazepines. If you are looking for a powerful anxiety remedy that really calms you down, I’d recommend starting off with Chamomile Comfort.
I’m struggling to think of anything bad about Chamomile Comfort, so I’m giving it 5 out of 5 stars!
Passionflower is one of the most underrated natural anxiety remedies. There are many passionflower extracts available on Amazon but I like the option that Gaia Herbs offers because it is really potent. It is a little bit pricier but certainly worth it because this stuff provides exceptionally powerful natural anxiety relief.
Most anxious people don’t want mild relief from symptoms; they want something that has a powerful anxiolytic effect without the addictive properties of stuff like Xanax or Valium.
This passionflower pill makes me feel a lot less nervous, and it is great to use as a supplement alongside other remedies. Furthermore, it is fantastic for sleep, which is something that anxious people often struggle with.
You get 60 pills in a bottle, which works out as just $1.08 per dose, based on current prices. The only minor issue with this supplement is that it might make you a bit too sleepy to focus on high-level tasks, so you’d be better off only taking it at night. I give Gaia Herbs passionflower supplement 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I found out about lavender oil as a great natural anxiety remedy completely by accident. I’m the kind of person who spends hours on the net looking up studies that show promise for various supplements in overcoming anxiety.
This exciting study conducted in Germany tested lavender oil as an anxiety treatment, and it delivered similar results to lorazepam (a common benzodiazepine used to provide fast anxiety relief).
There are numerous lavender supplements online, but I like this one because it comes in an easy to take soft gel capsule form. You get 60 pills, which works out at less than $0.6 per day, which is amazing value. Another reason I chose this one is because it is the exact same product used in the German study above (albeit manufactured by a different company).
I can verify that these lavender oil pills legitimately reduce anxiety, and the effect is pretty instantaneous, which makes it perfect for moments of acute anxiety.
I give this supplement five stars out of five because there aren’t any negative side-effects, the product is cheap, and it’s really effective. Make sure to visit the Amazon page to check out more reviews as this is a relatively new product in terms of people trying it as an option for natural anxiety remedies.
This is perhaps one of the more obscure natural anxiety remedies on this list, but that doesn’t take anything away from its efficacy. As you can see, it has a vague name “Min-chex”, which doesn’t seem to point towards any natural ingredient. I first became curious about this product when searching on Amazon for anxiety supplements. I noticed this was rated very highly, and my curiosity was piqued.
Upon detailed inspection of the ingredients, I noticed that it contained a vast array of extremely effective naturally occurring ingredients. To give you just a sample, here are some of the contents:
- Magnesium citrate: known to be one of the more effective magnesium compounds that doesn’t run straight through you. Magnesium has often been regarded as nature’s natural calming mineral.
- Vitamin B6. Also known as pyridoxine, this vitamin has been demonstrated to be lacking in women suffering from panic attacks and other anxiety disorders.
- Iodine. Iodine deficiency is an often understated cause of panic attacks. The problem is that at high levels, iodine is also known to worsen anxiety. This supplement delivers just the right dosage to ensure that you feel better and less prone to panic.
The above three ingredients are not exhaustive–this supplement contains quite a lot of other helpful calming vitamins and minerals. I would suggest that for panic attack sufferers, this might be a great supplement to add to your arsenal. My only concern was the inclusion of iodine as going overboard with that isn’t good. But if you stick to recommended doses, you’ll be absolutely fine.
During the height of my panic attacks, this supplement made a huge difference for me and I believe it can help you too. Just look at the amount of positive reviews from verified buyers on Amazon and you’ll see that it evidently works for plenty of people besides me. I don’t take Min-Chex anymore but I’d seriously consider it if you suffer from panic.
Capping off this list of the five best natural anxiety remedies is Total Calm by a company named Tranquilene. I’m a huge fan of this and I feel it’s one of the best natural anxiety remedies y0u can take for generalized anxiety. It takes the herbal approach and all ingredients are 100% natural. The idea behind it is to restore the balance of nutrients in the body to a state that supports calmness.
There is actually a plethora of evidence that anxiety is worsened when you’re not feeding your body enough calming minerals, vitamins and other natural relaxers. This anxiety supplement contains an impressive 15 different natural ingredients, including Calcium, Vitamin B Complex, Magnesium, Passion Flower, GABA, L-Tryptophan, and Ashwagandha. All of these ingredients are 100% natural and organic, while been known to calm you down.
For me, the effect of this supplement was extremely noticeable. The initial reduction in anxiety is quite strong, and as you continuously take it, you’re naturally building up the amount of these calming herbs and vitamins, and thus experiencing a gradual shift in calmness that becomes permanent over time. I still take this pill to this day because I was so impressed with it.
The price is decent too and I think it’s an extremely affordable everyday natural anxiety remedy. I credit this supplement with initially keeping my anxiety down to a level that was bearable. My only real issue with it was that once the levels of the nutrients it contained had been restored, the effect wasn’t as strong for me. So I’d take the tablet and wouldn’t experience much calmness–but this was probably because I was already permanently reduced to a lower baseline level of anxiety. I’d seriously recommend purchasing a one month supply and taking it from there.
I think all five of these products are fantastic in their own way, and the great thing is you can combine them to develop your own personal stack of natural anxiety remedies. I have taken all five supplements together and I’d recommend doing that if you can afford it and you’ve talked to your doctor about it, but if you are short of cash or want to err on the side of caution, I’d combine one of the most general supplements, which would be either Total Calm or Chamomile Comfort with one of the others. Take the passionflower supplement for improved sleep or the lavender supplement for quick anxiety relief. For panic attacks, you might be better off with Min-Chex.
You should always ask your general practitioner first about supplements for anxiety and or depression, especially if you plan on combining more than 2 of these natural anxiety remedies. They are all completely safe on their own, but the reason you need to exercise caution is that your doctor will be able to guide you towards choosing the right remedy for you, and your doctor will know more about the safe combinations of these supplements because he has undergone years of training. Just be advised that it is extremely difficult to overdose on any of the ingredients in these products and that’s why I’ve included them because they are generally a lot safer than benzodiazepines, which can be lethal when combined with alcohol.
If I was forced to choose only one of these products I would go with Chamomile Comfort as it’s the most helpful general anxiety remedy in my humble opinion. But it would be a really close call when choosing between Chamomile Comfort and Total Calm. Chamomile Comfort edges it because for me, even now that my anxiety is almost non-existent, I can still notice Chamomile Comfort having a relaxing effect. It’s the ultimate chill pill and should be part of anyone’s arsenal who is interested at all in natural anxiety remedies.
If you purchase one of these natural anxiety remedies, please let me know what you think of them in the comments below. Or if you have any other natural anxiety remedies to add, you are also welcome to comment. I would like to encourage discussion on here because this website is all about helping people. I have personally found natural anxiety remedies to be an absolute life-saver in terms of the completely safe and natural effect they’ve had on my various anxiety disorders over the years. Too much of a good thing is obviously still an issue, regardless if it’s water or natural anxiety remedies we’re talking about. So always make sure you stick to the recommended dosages that are clearly labeled by the manufacturers of these supplements.
